  99 Tracks (and a bitch ain’t one)

  A few years ago when Matt and I were discovering iTunes and the ease of making CD mixes, we started the undertaking of making the original 13 Songspeak mixes into CD’s. This was quite the project, as we had to compile all the songs, get them into our iTunes libraries, and prepare the playlists. We also have various obscure soundclips, and getting these into iTunes was also quite the task.

  We also knew that we’d be making all new Songspeak CD’s with new soundclips, so we had to start preparing and recording them. I still had a cassette deck, and was able to hook it up with my DVD player so I could record soundclips from movies and DVD’s onto cassette, which we would then put on CD. It was painstaking, but totally worth it.

  One night while working on this project, we were trying to figure out the best way to do it, and we realized that the blank CD’s we were using allowed for up to 99 separate tracks. I said to Matt, “We’ve got 99 tracks” and without missing a beat, Matt replied, “and a bitch ain’t one”. This was in reference to the Jay Z song 99 Problems.

  It’s not much, but it’s these little things that make songspeak truly special. When a magic moment happens without thought. It’s the essence of what songspeak is all about.

  And remember how long Jay Z and Beyonce were together while lying to the media and pretending it was all just a rumor? Don’t insult our intelligence, guys…we all know the score. As if it wasn’t obvious y’all were bumpin’ uglies when Beyonce released Crazy in Love. Come on, now.
