It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season premiere

    posted by matt | 09.18.08 | permalink | 1 comment

I know I post plenty of stuff about It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but I for one, am pretty excited about the season premiere tonight. Two episodes: Mac and Dennis: Manhunters and The Gang Solves The Gas Crisis, will be shown.

For shits and giggles in the meantime, the I’m Goin’ Back to Philly promo video was hilarious. The Day Man, Fighter of the Night Man video is classic.

Kristen, Heather, and I are huge fans of the show, and actually, our friend Bill used to be involved in stage work with Charlie Day at Merrimack College.

Here’s some info from the Paddy’s Pub blog:

    Dudes and Dudettes,

Are you ready to rupture your ha-ha holes? You’d better be, because season four of the funniest show on television kicks off [TONIGHT] on FX!

There seems to be some confusion as to which episodes are airing when, so let me crack an egg of knowledge all over you:

    TOMORROW, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 18TH

10:00PM (9:00CT): “Mac and Dennis: Manhunters”

10:30PM (9:30CT): “The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis”

    THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 25TH

    10:00PM (9:00CT): “America’s Next Top Paddy’s Billboard Model Contest”

    10:30PM (9:30CT): “Mac’s Banging the Waitress”

    THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2ND

10:00PM (9:00CT): “Mac and Charlie Die” (special hourlong episode)

After that we’ll only be airing one new episode a week. The guys are still editing, so they haven’t decided on airdates for the remaining shows.

We’ll be posting a behind-the-scenes video on “The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis,” introduced by the honorable Rob McElhenney, immediately following the episode on Thursday night. So be sure to hop online and check that out. Until then, get excited because you are just 24 hours away from a hilarious new season of Sunny!

Day man, fighter of the night man

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is one of the greatest shows on television. It’s hard to sum up Charlie’s character if you’ve never watched the show, but Day Man is one of the best ‘Charlie moments’. It’s from the episode, Sweet Dee’s Dating a Retarded Person. It’s a pretty crude show. The premise of this particular episode is that the main characters, Frank, Dennis, Mac, and Charlie can’t tell if Dee’s new boyfriend is retarded, because he’s a well known local rapper and… it actually is questionable if you watch the episode.

Anyhow, realizing that having music at the bar they own together would be good for business, Frank, Mac, and Charlie form a band together. Charlie is kicked out of the band and replaced by Dennis, who is kicked out of the band shortly thereafter. Feeling defeated, Dennis finds Charlie huffing paint in his apartment, and the brilliant Day Man song is born.

Here’s a clip of the pivotal moment:

Here’s a clip of the actual performance in the bar:

Here’s what led up to Charlie getting kicked out of the band:
