    Chipoltaway!

    posted by matt | 10.28.09 | permalink | comment?

South Park’s 13th season opened with an episode called “I See Dead Celebrities” in which Patrick Swayze, Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon, Walter Cronkite, DJ AM, David Carradine, Bea Arthur, and others appear in Purgatory. It was the Summer of Death after all.

Of particular note, however, was Cartman’s appreciation for advertising hero Billy Mays who is shown here hawking a product called Chipoltaway, which removes blood stains from one’s underwear after eating Chipotle.

    Billy Mays not here anymore

    posted by jamie | 06.29.09 | permalink | comment?

billy-maysForget Michael Jackson. A true icon passed away yesterday. And that icon is Billy Mays. He was also 50 years old. Not a good week for pop culture. With his unmistakable voice and jet black beard, Billy Mays tried to sell us all kinds of ridiculously wonderful products. And, to the best of my knowledge, he never beat the shit out of any hookers. Probably best known for pitching Oxi Clean and Orange Glo on TV, one of my personal favorites was the Simoniz Fix It scratch remover. He really made me believe in the magic of this product, even though I never bought it. Somehow I don’t think any other products will seem quite so exciting from this point on…

R.I.P. Billy. You will truly be missed.

    Holy shit, Michael Jackson died

    posted by songspeak | 06.26.09 | permalink | 2 comments

Michael Jackson, perhaps the biggest pop icon of our time, died suddenly yesterday in Los Angeles. The King Of Pop’s career and personal life took odd and controversial twists and turns in later years, but albums like Thriller absolutely defined our generation. He was a truly electrifying performer.

Totally off the wall: Michael Jackson schedules shows at The O2 Arena in London

    posted by songspeak | 03.05.09 | permalink | 1 comment

MJ After announcing that he would NOT be recording or touring as part of the Jackson 5 back in October of last year, and fending off rumors of ill health, Michael Jackson made a “special announcement” today at London’s The O2 Arena… a comeback tour of sorts.

He’s scheduled 10 shows in July of 2009 at the huge venue, his first scheduled performance since a number of years ago, when his career spiraled down a hole of child molestation charges, bankruptcy, and lawsuits.

Will he actually perform? It remains to be seen. The King Of Pop, with a surprisingly deep voice, announced “This is it. This is the final curtain call” while saying that these will be his last performances EVER in London.

    Transcript below… (more…)

    Jack-o can’t go back-o to Neverland Ranch-o

    posted by songspeak | 11.14.08 | permalink | comment?

notefromjackoThis past Monday, November 10th, 2008, Michael Jackson transferred the deed to Neverland Ranch to Sycamore Valley Ranch Co. LLC. Jackson was about to default on the $24.5 million he owed on the property, facing foreclosure.

He left a note for his fans. Not sure why “Realy” is in quotes. Does this mean he doesn’t actually really miss and/or love them all?

Perhaps this should be submitted to The “Blog” of “Unnecessary” Quotation Marks.

Wesley Snipes is Bad with paying taxes

    posted by matt | 04.25.08 | permalink | 3 comments

Actor Wesley Snipes should pay taxes, just like everybody else. Instead, he’s going to jail for 3 years. Way to go, guy from Blade and White Men Can’t Jump.

But you know what? “He ain’t bad, he ain’t nuthin… He ain’t nuthin!”.

What, am I the only one who remembers him being the rival gang leader in the long version of Michael Jackson’s Bad video?
