Oh no! According to E!, Steve Carell confirmed that he’s leaving NBC’s The Office for greener pastures. My guess is that Michael Scott will get transferred to Nashua so he can be near Holly, but I’m just pulling that out of my butt.
Can The Office survive without Michael Scott? Maybe not the fake tv office, but certainly any normal office without its Michael Scott could.

David Wallace on The Office is always pure comedy cold. Sure, his comedic stylings are more subtle than say, Michael Scott, but that’s why it makes this clip all the more special. Because David Wallace is now nuts.
In a post-Sabre takeover world (where presumably David Wallace got bought out and is now enjoying his retirement), his grand idea for his next business venture is a shop-vac like vacuum that sucks up toys in messy rooms called “Suck It”.
The theme song he plays with his son (who is AWESOME on the drums btw) pretty much says it all (excerpt):
Lyrics:
Well it’s a mess.
What’choo gonna do?
You’re gonna take out your Suck It and suck it… suck it… suck it.
You’re gonna take out your Suck It and suck it… suck it… suck it.

Last Thursday on The Office, Michael Scott (accompanied by Holly and Darryl) belted out a fabulous rendition of Life is a Highway by Tom Cochrane.
They were on a road trip from Scranton, PA to Nashua, NH, and it’s one of those songs that you can’t resist singing along to when it comes on the car radio during a long road trip.
I remember when the song came out when I was in high school, and how catchy it was then. It still gets airplay almost daily to this very day.
And now, the vocal stylings of Michael Scott, Holly, and Darryl:

Last Thursday on My Name is Earl, the storyline involved David Arquette as a stuntman who had suffered a brain injury so that every day he woke up and thought it was the same day, and forgot everything from the day before (just like Drew Barrymore’s character in 50 First Dates). His accident happened 10 years ago, and so everytime Earl showed up, he greeted him with a hearty, “Wazzzzzup!” from the old Budweiser commercials. This commercial was also referenced in the pilot episode of The Office (it’s how Michael Scott greets Jim and Dwight, and Jim sarcastically mentions how it’s still funny, all these years later).
This led to us finding the original commercial courtesy of youtube, and we realized what a hoot it really is.

Last night was the Comedy Night Done Right on NBC with season premieres of My Name is Earl, The Office, and ER. And amazingly enough, there were great songspeak moments in each of these episodes!
There was a scene in My Name is Earl
where Earl’s dad (played by Beau Bridges) goes to confront an old neighbor who he had just found out had a fling with his wife years ago. As they’re waiting at the door, Earl starts singing Eye of the Tiger by Survivor. When the dude’s wife (who had taken years of self defense classes) starts pounding the holy hell out of his dad, Earl keeps singing.
The Office was awesome, as always. At the end of last season, Andy Bernard proposed to Angela (who is boffing Dwight Schrute on the side), and she reluctantly accepted. The Angela/Andy wedding plotline was only a small part of last night’s episode, but in one scene where Andy goes to Angela’s desk to talk to her, he references Umbrella by Rihanna by singing, “My Angela..ella…ella”.
Finally, on ER, Tony Hale (Buster Bluth from Arrested Development) guest starred as a patient who had broken his leg
saving an old woman. He was a very talkative patient, and would tell anyone who listened how he was injured because he was saving someone. In one of his ramblings, he starts reciting song lyrics. I believe it was Hero by Mariah Carey because he finished with “and there’s a hero inside of you…ha ha, the song was right!”
NBC went 3 for 3 last night with the songspeaks. Kudos, National Broadcasting Company. Kudos.

On an episode of The Office, a small fire starts in the kitchen, causing the employees of Dunder Mifflin to exit to the parking lot. Dwight goes back in to get Michael’s cell phone (which Michael has in his pocket), and discovers that ‘the temp’, Ryan, caused the fire by not using the toaster oven properly. He starts belting out, “Ryan started the fire… it was always burning since the worlds been turning!” and Michael Scott soon joins in. The original song is We Didn’t Start The Fire by Billy Joel.
