Given all the death and despair lately, I think it’s time to get back to songspeak basics. Which is why I’ve decided to tell y’all about an old songstory courtesy of our friend Kevin. You may remember his misheard No Doubt lyrics. Anyway, Kevin is a big classic rock fan, and him and I spent many a night listening to the Dazed and Confused soundtracks in his jeep as we drove around. Kevin also liked the Steve Miller Band, and had many alternate lyrics to various Steve Miller songs. One particular one that I remember was his alternate lyrics for Swingtown. The song starts, “Come on and dance, come on and dance, let’s make some romance…”, but whenever Kevin would hear it, without fail he would sing, “Take off your pants, take off your pants, let’s make some romance…”. Personally, I think Kevin’s lyrics are much more fitting than the original ones. And so should you.

It's all Carrot Top's fault
While playing Guitar Hero on X-Box at a friend’s this weekend, Spiderwebs by No Doubt came up in the game. I remembered when this song came out over 10 years ago. Our friend Kevin used to think the lyrics in the chorus were “it’s all your fault I scream my balls off”, but they’re really “it’s all your fault I screen my phone calls”. But if you listen to it and listen for his misheard lyrics, it does sound like Gwen Stefani says that. Even though it makes no sense in the context of the song.

In a world where the names of well-known famous-types keep getting weirder and weirder, Zuma Nesta Rock is one of the weirder ones.
Born this past Thursday, August 21st, 2008 to Gwen Stefani (of No Doubt fame) and Gavin Rossdale (of Bush fame), he weighed 8 pounds and 5 ounces.
Sure, Zuma Nesta Rock is no Pilot Inspektor, Moon Unit, or Dweezil, but it’s still kinda bizarre. Some thought went into picking the name at least.
I wonder whose mouth, mouth, mouth, mouth he has.
