    She’s a Sheena Glover

    posted by jamie | 12.03.08 | permalink | 2 comments

Within the first year of Matt and I working together at Silver Screen Design, we discovered the joy of odd and unfortunately hilarious customer names. It’s bound to happen when you deal with as many people on a daily basis as we do.

Anyway, one of Matt’s customers was named Sheena Glover, who at the time worked for Georgia Southern University. I remember when he first got off the phone with her, he started singing, “She’s a Sheena Glover…” to the tune of Easy Lover by Phil Collins and Philip Bailey. Whenever he talked to her, he’d sing this afterwards.

We still sing it, to this day. Even though we haven’t heard from Sheena Glover in years, she’s still in our hearts.

    The Analog-to-Digital TV transition: A2DTVOK!

    posted by matt | 11.19.08 | permalink | comment?

We watch an awful lot of TV over here in the Songspeak National Headquarters Office Tower. And much like the Y2K scare, we plan to party like it’s 1999 when analog television transitions to digital TV only in February of 2009.

But seriously folks– who even HAS analog TV anymore? People who aren’t going to be able to figure out how to hook up a digital converter box, that’s who.

Thanks Jeff at LinkFarm for cracking an egg of knowledge about this video.

Oh, and speaking of a sign o’ the times… Back in 1999, my mom got t-shirts with big letters that said Y2KOK! for her office. Her and her co-workers were stuck working at their office on New Year’s Eve because of the Y2K hullabaloo. I was reminded of this recently because Jamie found the films for the job at the t-shirt silkscreen place he works for where the shirts were printed.

But also, I was thinking about Y2K recently because Kristen and I just finished watching Sports Night, which had an episode devoted to Y2K. Oh dated humor, you kill me.

And in case you were wondering, I’m happy to report that I’m confident everything will be Y2.009KOK here at Songspeak.

    It’s the milk chocolate!

Jamie was in Pennsylvania at the NACA Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference in Lancaster, Pennsylvania this past weekend. As someone who used to work in the booths at those NACA shows, I remember the long stretches of time in between the trade show sessions where you’d have to find something to do with yourself. Jamie’s wife and young daughter were able to join him for this trip, for a mini vay k of sorts, so at least he wasn’t solo.

My wife Kristen is originally from the Hershey, PA area, which isn’t too far from Lancaster, which means she grew up around all things Hershey. Luckily she’s been able to show me around whenever we visit, because I LOVE CANDY. So we thought we’d suggest to Jamie that he and his wife and kid visit Chocolate World at HersheyPark. “Quinn will love it!”, we said. They did, and from what we’ve heard, Jamie’s daughter Quinn asked to go on the ride twice. (more…)
