  This commercial for GE Locomotives takes my breath away

  My wife Kristen and I saw this commercial for GE Locomotive while watching the Today Show on NBC this morning.  It features employees at the GE Locomotive plant in Erie, Pennsylvania performing their version of Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away”.

  It also features an all too rare appearance of the keytar.

  On this endless ocean finally lovers know no shame
  Turning and returning to some secret place inside

  Watching in slow motion as you turn to me and say

  The Today Show lacks All-American Creativity

  The All-American Rejects performed on the Today Show this morning in anticipation of the release of their third album. And on Today’s concert series page, this is what appeared:

  

  “Move Along to these guys”? Really, that’s all ya got Today Show? Two previous albums worth of lyrics, and that’s the best you can come up with? Not to mention they picked one of the most ridiculous still images of lead singer Tyson Ritter they could find. And what’s up with the usage of “these guys”? Is John McCain working for the Today Show website now?

  If Songspeak gave out booby prizes for worst songspeaks, today Today would be at the top of the list. I mean, honestly.

  Anyhow, for those interested, here are the All-American Rejects performing their new single:

  Jesus Christ, Katy Perry! The Today Show?

  Katy Hudson has come a long way from her 2001 Christian album, Faith Won’t Fail. Even her name as changed– now she’s Katy Perry. Her song, I Kissed A Girl, has been cat-cat-cat-catching on for quite some time now. It annoys me… for various reasons.

  First of all, don’t insult our intelligence, Katy Perry. You ripped off both the title and the premise from Jill Sobule. Trying to titillate listeners with such a ‘taboo’ subject isn’t anything new. But it’s not like you’re intelligently trying to make some sort of statement about sexuality, you’re trying to appeal to the frat-boy fantasy of two chicks getting it on. Ur other song, Ur So Gay also used similar tired old gay stereotypes. I know you’re kidding around and everything, but girl, you know it’s true.

  Katy Perry has come a long way from growing up as a good girl in a nice Christian household, we get it.
