As we at Songspeak recently learned, it’s Andre N. Jones a.k.a. Drizzrod who sings the backup on Kid Rock’s song, All Summer Long, which samples Lynryd Skynyrd’s Sweet Home Alabama as well as Warren Zevon’s Werewolves of London.
From Andre’s bio:
Andre’s style is a Gumbo. A Stew that combines Spoken Word with hip hop, Gospel, Funk and R&B. The effort is intended to probe important issues of current times while remaining musically entertaining.
Kind of weird that SO MANY PEOPLE thought that it was Bob Seger. We were definitely fooled here at Songspeak.

I was wrong too. I thought it was Travis Tritt. Oh well.
@Karen -
Lots of people think it’s Travis Tritt or Bob Seger. We were fooled here at Songspeak.
I honestly thought it was Tim McGraw! but i knew that it was the music from werewolves of london & sweet home alabama, the very first time i heard it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought it sounded like a Van Zandt
I totally thought it was Travis Tritt. I was shocked that it wasn’t.
He doesn’t quite sound like Seger, very close, but something is a bit off. On the other hand, the whole song has a very Seger feel to it, despite the sampling of ‘Werewolves of London’ and ‘Sweet Home Alabama’, and the mention of ‘Blister in the Sun’ the vocal range, the way the backups come in at the end, and the subject matter is very Seger.
There is even a discussion on in the Detroit News about how much the song is influenced by ‘Night Moves’. Up until about a year ago Kid Rock and Bob Seger even had the same manager.
With all of this evoking Seger, it is no wonder that one searches for Bob Seger in the song.
@Karen - I thought it was Travis Tritt, as well. It sounds so exactly like him when he lets loose, and really SINGS.
Hey everybody,
I’m as shocked as everybody else! Although the background vocalist on the song has the same name as I, those vocals are not me. I wish I could claim that it was but it’s not. Thanks guys.

@andre - How many people have asked if it’s you?
It sounded like Michael Bolton to me…

I THOUGHT IT WAS JAMES OTTO SINGING THE BACKUP VOCALS ON ALL SUMMER LONG GOOD STRONG VOICE. GREAT MUSIC
an exact copy of such a choir was sung by the formerly very successfull English band named Smokey, and they had an almost identical hit on a CD way back in the 90s with this, so it is “covered”. I therefore presumed they did it (like in former years when they supported solo Agneta of formerly ABBA with their talent)
@Chris David - Do you have a link to the song or the name of the album? What was the name of the song?
I thought it sounds like Ruben Stoddard, which would fit with the “Sweet Home Alabama” thing…
I still think it sounds like Travis Tritt
